My lock cover is a version of an old design where a skinned calf or deer joint was dried and molded to fit over the lock of a flintlock rifle to shield it from the elements. I have updated it with a strap and brass button that holds it securely to any rifle except the largest muskets such as the brown Bess size. A must for both flintlock and percussion rifle hunters that hunt in the harsh elements. This lock cover does not water proof the flash pan but rather helps keep the occasional drop of water or snow off the lock and dousing the pan when walking through the woods and bumping brush and small saplings that are laden with water or snow. Several of our Possibles bags have back pockets which are perfect to stow a Lock Cover in so you always have it with you.
